(WJLA) - Frederick County police say a man is facing charges after he tried to drive his pick-up truck around railroad crossing gates and was struck by a MARC train.

It happened Friday at about 5:30 p.m. at E. South Street and the CSX railroad tracks near Hamilton Avenue. Police say the train hit the truck and spun it into a pole. The driver, Frederick Dell Jackson, fled. Police say Jackson, who was later located, was driving on a suspended Georgia license and that he was charged with several offenses related to the crash.

Jackson was not injured in the crash. The MARC train had superficial damage and was slightly delayed.
