A 52-year-old Montgomery County woman died Monday night when she lost control of her car while driving through standing water.
The victim, Frances Cook D'Anna, was driving with her 18-year-old daughter west on Darnestown Road just before 9:45 p.m. when she went through a pool of standing water near Bucklodge Road. She lost control of the car and hit a tree, Montgomery County Police say.
D'Anna was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Her daughter suffered non-life threatening injures in the crash as well.
Public safety officials warn people to never drive their cars through any depth of standing water.
