Four Mile Run sewage spill forces people away from water
Arlington County officials are urging people and animals to stay away from a portion of Four Mile Run after a sewage spill on Tuesday.
Officials say that the water in the creak downstream from the release, which happened near South Dinwiddie Street and Columbia Pike, was contaminated due to a sewage release after a pipe was blocked. The blockage has since been removed and the sewage spill has been stopped.
However, the county says that the water downstream from the release all the way to the Potomac should be avoided until further notice.
The watch includes bodies of water that are adjacent to several parks in the area, including Barcroft, Shirlington, Jennie Dean, Allie Freed and Bicentennial Gardens.
