Former Md. police officer pleads guilty to sexually abusing a girl from age 8 to 10
LA PLATA, Md. (ABC7) —
A former District Heights Police officer has pled guilty to sexually abusing a girl for two years when she was 8-10 years old.
Clyde Douglas Parks, Jr., 48 of Waldorf, entered a guilty plea to the Sexual Abuse of a Minor in front of Charles County Circuit Court Judge Amy J. Bragunier, according to a statement from State's Attorney Tony Covington,
Responding to a report by officials of the sexual abuse that had occurred ten years earlier, detectives from the Charles County Sheriff's Office contacted the victim who affirmed she had been abused repeatedly by Parks.
She said Parks had shown her pornographic material and he had engaged in sexual acts with her without her consent.
Parks later admitted to investigators the sexual abuse the victim described.
If convicted, Parks faces up to 25 years in prison. A hearing for his sentencing is scheduled for January 10, 2018.
