(WJLA) - Two weekend fires in Fairfax County have been ruled accidental.
The first fire was reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westfield Village senior complex on Woodmere Drive. Officials say the fire broke out on the second floor and caused mostly smoke damage. Two people were sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Investigators say it was caused by an iron in a bedroom closet. Damage estimates are at about $10,000.
A second fire broke out at a townhouse in the 14000 block of Cedar Creek Landing. It happened shortly before 8 p.m. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries.
Investigators say that fire was also accidental and appears to have been caused by an electrical power strip.
