Smithsonian Castle evacuated after fire breaks out in staff library

A fire at the Smithsonian Castle building was extinguished in Southwest D.C.  Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017 (Sam Ford/ABC7) 

An electrical fire at the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall was extinguished on Wednesday.

DC Fire officials say the building was evacuated and there were no reports of injuries. The fire occurred in a staff library.

The incident occurred on 1000 Jefferson Drive.

DC Fire said they have determined that the fire was accidental.
