A 25-year-old Silver Spring man has been charged with the first-degree murder of his mother.
On the morning of June 28, 2013, 50-year-old Esperanza Valle was found dead in her apartment with multiple stab wounds after a concerned co-worker called police when Valle failed to show up for work.
Valle's son, Fidel Washington, was found in the apartment with his mother and was taken into custody by police officers.
During questioning, police say Washington confessed to killing his mother after having an argument with her about his lack of a job.
Washington's bond review was held Monday where the court decided to continue his hearing. He is currently being held without bond for a psychiatric assessment.
His next bond hearing will occur next Wednesday.
