GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJLA) -- Students at a Glen Burnie elementary school were sent home Friday morning after animal control crews were unable to capture a feral cat running loose inside the school.

Richard Henry Lee Elementary School closed at 9:45 a.m. and many students had to wait with teachers on the school's playground to be picked up by parents. Others were taken home hours early on the buses they would normally ride at the end of the school day.

With school dismissed for the day, animal control officers said they would be setting traps inside the building in the hopes of catching the cat.
