Sterling woman dies in fire at Fairfax motel, officials say
FAIRFAX, Va. (ABC7) —
A woman is dead after a fire at a motel Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Fairfax fire officials said it was a room at the Lee High Inn at 9865 Fairfax Boulevard that caught fire sometime before 7:22 a.m. The woman has been identified as 35-year-old Megan Shuman, of Sterling.
The fire department initially said it was initially a two-alarm fire, but it was later moved down to one-alarm. Both Fairfax County and Fairfax City firefighters responded to the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
