One person was flown to a local hospital by helicopter Monday evening after a police-involved shooting on Va. 234 near Interstate 95, reports InsideNoVa.
Agents from the Bureau of Firearms, Alcohol and Tobacco had just finished an undercover deal with a suspect around 7 p.m., Washington Field Division Spokesperson Michael Campbell said. As they moved in to make an arrest, the suspect fled in a vehicle.
Agents pursued the suspect, who crossed over the median near Dumfries Road and I-95 at some point. Two agents got out of their car and tried to arrest the person. Campbell says the suspect began to driving toward the agents trying to run them over. Either one or both of the agents fired at the suspect. The suspect was flown to an area hospital in unknown condition. The incident remains under investigation.
The suspect, Henry Pierre Allen, 38, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics and felony eluding.
Earlier, Prince William County Police said in a statement that eastbound Dumfries Road from Van Buren Road to the interchange will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. Traffic westbound on Dumfries will be restricted from three lanes to two lanes during the investigation.
Va. 234 was shut down headed from Manassas toward Dumfries and traffic was bumper-to-bumper through the area, InsideNoVa reports.
