A pedestrian was fatally struck in a crash on I-395. An initial investigation showed the pedestrian walked into the roadway, Virginia State police said.
The pedestrian crossed all southbound lanes of I-395, the HOV lanes and was proceeding to cross the northbound lanes of I-395 when the person was struck.
The person was on the far right lane of I-395 north when he was hit by a car. The pedestrian died at the scene, Virginia State Police said in a news release.
Police identified the man as Fekadu Ledi, 64, of Arlington.
All but one lane were closed along I-395 northbound at Glebe Road shortly before 5 p.m. due to police and fire activity.
The Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is on scene assisting Trooper J.A. Naylor, who responded at around 4:10 p.m., according to the news release. The crash remains under investigation.
