False shooting reports at two federal buildings triggers big police response
WASHINGTON (WJLA) -- Authorities were investigating two separate phony reports of shootings at federal buildings on Thursday.
The reports of each shooting incident occurred about the same time.
The first report involved the Food and Drug Administration campus on New Hampshire Avenue in Montgomery County, while the second was for the Thomas P. O'Neill Jr. Federal Building at 200 C Street SW in D.C.
Officials said neither shooting call was true, but the reports created some tense moments briefly for federal employees at those two facilities as police officers - some carrying rifles - showed up in force at both locations..
