Seven grocery and convenience stores in Fairfax County were charged with illegally selling alcohol to minors during a string of compliance checks last Friday, officials say.
Fairfax County Police executed the checks at 27 locations throughout the county, during which seven stores, including three Safeway supermarkets in Falls Church and McLean, were caught selling alcohol to minors who identified themselves by their true age.
The checks were carried out by two teams, which consisted of one underage cadet, a plain clothes officers and a uniformed officer. When asked if the cadet was 21, they responded with their true date of birth and, if asked for identification, said they didn't have any.

-Safeway, 7401 Anderson Rd., Falls Church
-Safeway, 6244 Old Dominion Dr., McLean
-Giant, 1454 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean
-Super A Market, 2800 Graham Rd., Falls Church
-Safeway, 7397 Lee Highway, Falls Church
-Stop & Go Food Mart, 7600 Lee Highway, Falls Church
-7-Eleven, 7243 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church
