(WJLA) - Fairfax County residents will have an opportunity to share their opinions about proposed adjustments to school start times at a community meeting Monday night in Alexandria.
The meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hayfield Secondary School, is one for eight scheduled community meetings for parents, Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) employees and students to submit feedback to FCPS about establishing a school start time of 8 a.m. or later.
Fairfax County schools have been discussing making changes to the school start times for more than a year. In April 2012, the Fairfax County School Board passed a resolution to find a solution to amending school start times. A year later, the Children's National Medical Center developed a proposal with several scenarios for the changes. The proposal was presented to the board on April 23.
