CENTREVILLE, Va. (WJLA) - A Fairfax County father is furious with the county's school system after he says his 6-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted on her school bus.
Kevin Wells, a single father of two, says that his daughter rides the bus to and from Centreville Elementary School every day. But last week, when he met his daughter at the bus stop, she told him a horrifying story.
The girl told him that a 10-year-old boy had put his hands inside her pants and touched her inappropriately.
"She's only six years old," Wells said. "Imagine a 6-year-old trying to fight off a 10 year old."
Wells says the student school patrol officers who ride the bus sat his daughter in a seat next to two older children. One of them was a fifth grader who Wells says molested his daughter.
"The other students said my daughter said 'stop,'" he said. "The other students said the boy just kept going. He was on top of her."
Wells says he rushed home and called the school's principal, and by the next day, they had identified the boy in question. An investigation is underway, but he says that when school resumed after the Thanksgiving break, the boy was back riding on the same school bus with his daughter.
He says he wants the boy punished and kept away from his daughter. Fairfax County School officials say that the incident is being "investigated as a student disciplinary incident" and made no further coment.
"With a little girl saying that somebody sexually assaulted her, you are not going to say it's her word against his word," Wells said.
