FAIRFAX, Va. (ABC7) - After a suspected outbreak of canine flu, the Fairfax County Animal Shelter is accepting dogs again. The shelter suspended its intake of dogs last week after one dog died of Canine Influenza Virus. A dozen other dogs also became sick but are now recovering.
Officials say the entire shelter has been sanitized and that all recovering animals have been moved to a contained area.
Thursday, the shelter is launching a month-long adoption program and they say all pets that will go up for adoption will be healthy.
