FAIRFAX, Va. (WJLA) - The idea that she would be robbing banks in broad daylight in well-to-do areas of Fairfax County draws surprised reactions. But opinions differ on why she is doing little to hide her identity - except for the blonde wig and sunglasses.
According to Fairfax County Police, a woman robbed the United Bank on Chain Bridge Road in Vienna on Saturday morning just before 11:30 a.m. She walked in, handed the teller a note demanding money, and was handed cash. Then she walked out.
Police believe this is the same woman who did the same thing last Monday at a Bank of America in Chantilly. Don Godhardt with Fairfax Police said that in each case, the woman does not produce a weapon. He can't speak to the content of the note.
"So we don't really know if she's armed. That's not the point, it's still considered an armed bank robbery," he said.
The suspect is described as 30-35 years old, 5'9," 150 to 170 pounds, wearing a blonde wig and carrying a Coach purse. But what is perhaps most notable is not her appearance, but her oddly calm behavior - which police say can be observed from still photographs.
