Exelon to pay for Metro to extend evening hours for grand opening of The Wharf, Nats game. (ABC7)

Metro will extend late-night service an hour for the grand opening of The District Wharf and the Nationals Game against the Chicago Cubs taking place Thursday evening, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced.

The mayor's office said Exelon will pay for the extended service.

“Tonight, Washington, DC will host the Nationals’ NLDS championship game and the exciting opening of The Wharf,” Mayor Bowser stated in a press release. “We want everyone attending these events to enjoy their experience and have a safe ride home at the end of the night. Go Nats and enjoy The Wharf!”

The last Green Line train is set to leave the Navy Yard-Ballpark Station towards Greenbelt at 12:22 a.m. and toward Branch Avenue, the last Green Line train is expected to leave at 12:48 a.m., the mayor's office reported.
