Eugene Kelly sentenced to 67 years for killing Isaiah Harris

A D.C. man was sentenced Friday to 67 years in prison for killing a 15-year-old boy and shooting another in 2011 in NW D.C.

A judge sentenced Eugene Kelly, 28, for killing Isaiah Harris and another 15-year-old in the 1400 block of New Jersey Avenue NW.

Kelly shot the teens on May 30, 2011 in retaliation for his brother’s death. However, neither boy had any involvement in the death of Kelly’s brother.

“This case is a tragic reminder of the senseless cycle of violence that is far too common in our city,” said U.S. Attorney Ron Machen. “In a foolish attempt to avenge his brother’s murder, Eugene Kelly shot two innocent fifteen-year-old boys, killing one of them. Kelly’s inexplicable decision to kill a child did nothing to bring back his brother or to honor his brother’s memory.”
