Connecticut Avenue water main break causes DuPont Circle traffic headaches

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A broken 12-inch water main near DuPont Circle closed several of the southbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue Northwest between N Street and Jefferson Place Tuesday morning.

A stretch of 18th Street NW between M and N streets was also blocked as crews worked on repairs. M Street NW, which is one-way headed west as it passes through the DuPont Circle neighborhood, was also blocked at Connecticut Avenue.

Work to repair the ruptured water main, which involved digging up large sections of the sidewalk along Connecticut Avenue, extended into early Tuesday afternoon.

D.C. police say that work wrapped up and roads reopened just after noon.
