A Prince William County man's love for illegal weapons got him into big trouble. According to court records, 48-year-old Doug Story paid for a semi-automatic AK-47 to be converted into a fully automatic weapon.
Neighbors and federal prosecutors add that Story was a threat to others, including two powerful lawmakers.
Story first got the attention of undercover FBI agents in August when he allegedly discussed buying an illegal fully-automatic AK-47 on several white supremacy websites. Using the screen name "Confederate Brother", federal agents say, Story also ranted about minorities, President Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and local law enforcement officers.
In one forum, officials say Story went after the president directly writing, "I think there's one way Obummer would be proven as a mere mortal...if someone put a 30.06 round into the base of his skull."
Story allegedly also stated online that he planned to ambush and murder any police officers that stopped him on the street if martial law ever came into effect.
Court records state that Story gave an undercover agents a semi-automatic AK-47, as well as $120, so the gun could be converted. He was arrest when he got the weapon back from the agent.
No one answered the door at Story's Manassas home Wednesday night. Neighbor Joseph Howard says he's anything but surprised that the man known around the area for plastering his extreme political views on his truck would take it to a threatening level.
"I'll be honest. I've been afraid to put an Obama sticker on my car, because I don't want my tires slashed or my car keyed," Howard says.
Story faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty on the charge of making a firearm in violation of the National Firearms Act,
