(WJLA) - The man hit and killed by a train in Laurel on Tuesday evening has been identified by authorities.
The body of Dontay Lamont Owensby, 19, was discovered by a pair of teenagers at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near the CSX/MARC tracks along the 800 block of Lafayette Avenue.
Laurel Police say that a person described as looking like Owensby had been seen in the area shortly before he was found dead with injuries consistent with being struck by a train. In addition, a MARC train operator saw Owensby running along the tracks earlier in the day.
Officials say Owensby was hit by a northbound train and that the rail lines were closed for about 3 hours while authorities investigated his death.
