Dominique Bradford accused of assaulting Culpeper deputy

(WJLA) - A Capitol Heights man is accused of assaulting a Culpeper County Sheriff's deputy early Saturday.

Officers pulled over Dominique Bradford, 22, at Sunset Lane near Redbud Street in Culpeper around 12:30 a.m. after observing his Nissan Altima stopped in the middle of Madison Road.

Bradford and his two passengers, Wayne Johnson and Andre Puller, exited the vehicle to speak with officers, but Bradford allegedly ran back to the Nissan.

Corporal Richard McKinley deployed his taser and Bradford ran. Deputy Jonathan Waddell was able to grab Bradford, but was injured in the process.

Police recovered drug paraphernalia and narcotics from the vehicle.

Bradford, Johnson, and Puller were arrested and charged with felony possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, heroin, and PCP. Bradford was also charged with assaulting a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, eluding police, and impeding traffic. All three are being held without bond.

Deputy Waddell was transported to Culpeper Regional Hospital and was later released.
