DHS service center in SW closed indefinitely after roof collapse
Officials say a D.C. Department of Human Services center in southwest has been closed following a roof collapse, but no injuries were reported.
Reggie Sanders, a public information officer with the department, said in a release that the roof collapse at the Congress Heights Service Center was caused by standing water. Roofers are working to make repairs.
The center on South Capitol Street provides food stamps, Medicaid benefits and daycare services to eligible recipients.
Customers and staff are being asked to use the Anacostia and Fort Davis centers.
