A 20-year-old man who was arrested last week on attempted murder charges stabbed his victim 16 times during an April 16 attack, police say.
Devante Ryan McNeil, who was arrested April 18 on charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault and reckless endangerment, had allegedly been in a previous argument with the 18-year-old victim before stabbing him repeatedly and fleeing the scene.
The stabbing happened in the 11100 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, hours after McNeil told a friend he was angry at the victim and wanted to fight him. Montgomery County Police say that later in the evening, McNeil accosted the victim in the lobby of an apartment building, punched him in the face and began stabbing.
Police say the victim was able to grab the knife from his attacker and get away. The stabbing victim sustained life-threatening injuries during the attack, but has since been released from an area hospital.
