Montgomery County Police officials say they've made an arrest in the murder of a 24-year-old man in White Oak last December.

On Dec. 27, 2011, Franklin Amobi, a 24-year-old Silver Spring man and a popular local rapper nicknamed "Frank Diggy," was shot and killed near a bus stop in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane. On Tuesday, police say that Dennis Mackabee, 29, had been detained in connection with the killing.

Mackabee is being held without bond.

Police say that on the day Amobi was shot, he was outside his apartment and involved in a drug transaction with Mackabee and two other people. Police received information about Mackabee's involvement in the transaction and the shooting on May 11, officials say.

He was subsequently arrested at a family member's home in Chevy Chase.

As the search for his shooter went on, Amobi's friends and family distributed fliers and continued to get the word out about the case.

"Somebody has to know something. This neighborhood is too small, too close. Somebody needs to speak up," one of Amobi's friends, identified as Sharaya, told ABC 7 this past April.
