A toy poodle that was stolen last week in a brutal attack on her dog walker has been found, D.C. police say.

On Thursday, August 3, a woman was walking three dogs in the 5200 block of Fitch Street, SE at about 9:25 a.m. when she was approached by two women. When the women tried to grab the leash of Diva, the woman walking her resisted and held onto the leash.

The two women brutally attacked Diva’s walker and stole the dog.

The woman who had been walking Diva was bloodied and walking with a crutch when ABC7’s Stephen Tschida talked with her about the attack.

Tanisha Celestina John-Hope, 21, of Southeast, D.C., was arrested Sunday and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, according to a police statement.

Diva was taken to the Humane Rescue Alliance for an examination.
