DC streets converted for National Parking Day
Every third Friday of September is Parking Day. It started in San Francisco in 2005 and spread worldwide, including here in DC.
What is it all about? Placing pop-up parks in street parking spaces instead of cars, for the day.
In DC on Friday, 30 businesses and non-profits got "Emergency No Parking" signs from the city and took over parking spaces with lounge chairs and house plants and invited passers-by to sit and chat about business or ideas.
The apartment building called 450 K had doggie toys and doggie treats to let potential tenants know their pets are welcome.
