Health center provides help for breast cancer patients in Wards 7 and 8 in Southwest D.C.
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Breast Care for Washington in Southwest D.C. is helping women diagnosed with breast cancer that live in Wards 7 and 8.
The nation's capital has the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the country, and Wards 7 and 8 have some of the highest mortality rates in the city.
Officials at Breast Cancer for Washington tells ABC7 News there is a lot of erroneous information and fear especially in the African-American community.
The nonprofit tries to help women overcome those fears by offering services to them whether or not they have health insurance.
