A Jefferson, Md. man is accused of intentionally starving a cow to death on his farm, warranting a felony charge, the Frederick News Post reports.
Police say David Wayne Fisher had already been charged with several misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. Along with an emaciated horse, officers found a dead cow, as well as dead and malnourished chickens.
A necropsy on the cow determined that the animal had died of starvation.
Fisher was charged Monday with several counts of animal cruelty and failure to provide proper veterinary care. He could spend up to three years in jail and face a possible $5,000 fine.
