Data Systems & Solutions LLC to pay $8.8M in bribery case
WASHINGTON (AP) - A northern Virginia company that provides services at nuclear and fossil fuel power plants has been charged with violating anti-bribery laws.
The Justice Department says Reston-based Data Systems & Solutions LLC has agreed to pay an $8.82 million criminal penalty to resolve the allegations. Authorities have agreed to dismiss the charges in two years if the company follows through on certain reforms and makes periodic reports to the Justice Department.
Prosecutors say company officials paid bribes to officials employed by a state-owned nuclear power plant in Lithuania to secure contracts.
The Justice Department says the company's cooperation has been "extraordinary," including conducting an internal investigation.
