Daniel Mendoza-Abarca charged with abducting ex-girlfriend in Sterling

(WJLA) - An Ashburn man is in custody after allegedly abducting and holding his ex-girlfriend against her will, authorities say.

Daniel Mendoza-Abarca, 20, is accused of dragging his ex-girlfriend into a house in the 2200 block of Box Car Square in Sterling just before 4 a.m. Tuesday and holding her there.

The incident began just before 4 a.m., when the woman was giving Mendoza-Abarca a ride. At some point during the trip, Loudoun County Sheriff's officials say that the man grabbed the woman, took control of the car and drove them to his home.

When they got there, authorities say that Mendoza-Abarca forced her into the home. Once deputies arrived, though, she was able to get away and let authorities into the house.

The suspect is charged with abduction, simple assault and carjacking, among other charges.
