D.C. Taxicab Commission launches uniform taxi color incentive program

(WJLA) - The D.C. Taxicab Commission has launched an incentive program to encourage the owners of District cabs to paint their vehicles to the recently adopted uniform red and grey color design.

The program will offer a $200 voucher per vehicle painted. Some 3,000 vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost of painting a vehicle averages between $400 and $600.

The incentive program begins Jan. 15. Vouchers are available to download from the Commission's website. All vouchers must be redeemed by June 15.

About 1,000 of 6,500 active D.C. taxis have already been painted, according to DCTC reports.
