According to WTOP, D.C. Streetcar passenger service is no longer set to begin in 2013. The District Department of Transportation is now shooting for service before the end of March 2014.
The delay is reportedly due to a number of factors, including coordinating construction with D.C. Water and PEPCO, as well as delayed delivery of overhead wires that power the streetcars due to the federal shutdown.
However, the primary factor is a two-month delay in the delivery of the final two rail cars from United Streetcar.
Car #4 should arrive in December, and car #5 in January.
