D.C. police vehicle rear ends MetroBus, injuring eight

      Several people were taken to the hospital after the MetroBus they were riding in was hit by a police officer's vehicle Saturday afternoon.

      According to a Metro spokesperson, about 3:30 p.m. the bus was rear ended by a D.C. police vehicle near the intersection of Stanton Road and Suitland Parkway.

      Seven people onboard the bus were taken to the hospital to be checked out. And a police spokesperson tells ABC7 the officer was also taken to the hospital to be checked out.

      All of the injuries were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

      There was little damage to the bus, ABC7's Roz Plater reports, and it was able to drive away.

      The cause of the accident is being investigated.
