D.C. police shoot armed man in Northwest

Metropolitan police shot a man with a shotgun{ }in Northwest D.C. Thursday night. It happened shortly before 10 p.m. in the 5800 block of 13th St Northwest near the intersection of Missouri Avenue.

Assistant Chief{ }Alfred Durham says officers were called to the scene{ }around 9:30 p.m. for a report of a man firing a shotgun into the air. Arriving officers confronted the man, who then ran and dropped his weapon. Durham says the suspect then{ }brandished a handgun and pointed it at officers, who then shot him multiple times.{ }The suspect is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.

Durham says there was noone else involved in this incident, as previously reported.{ }

Police have no motive at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
