D.C. Metro area ranks high among best U.S. counties to live in

(WJLA) - Where are some of the best places to live in the U.S.?

According to this study, many of them are right here.

The California-based real estate website just released its list of the top 10 counties to live in, and four of them are here in the D.C. Metro area - including number one.

Loudoun County came in at the top of the list, as the best county in which to live in the nation, mostly due to having a high median income and cost of rent.

Fairfax County came in at number three thanks to its high income potential for residents.

Montgomery County, Maryland came in at number eight thanks again to having a high median income as well as low cost of rent and low unemployment rate.

And right behind Montgomery County is Frederick County, Maryland at number nine, having the fifth-lowest poverty ranking in the country and the 16th-highest median income.

Also gracing the list are counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Colorado, among others - but it was clear, to the researchers, that the east coast certainly dominated.

As well as high income-earning potential, unemployment rate, poverty rankings and cost of rent, other data taken into consideration were home prices, and high school graduation rates.

In all, Movato ranked 640 counties across the country for which enough data existed, and ranked its top 50.
