D.C. earthquake: Aug. quake's aftershocks continue in Va.

MINERAL, Va. (AP) - Aftershocks from the Aug. 23 earthquake that rattled the East Coast continue to shake Central Virginia.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 2.1-magnitude tremor occurred at 6:42 p.m. Thursday 5 miles southeast of Mineral.

Mineral was the epicenter of the 5.8-magnitude earthquake.

Aftershocks are smaller tremors that take place following a major earthquake.
