If you're not headed out of town to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, you'll have a few extra hours to burn at bars in the District.

According to the Washington Post's Tim Craig, an ongoing look into expanding bar hours past the current 2 a.m. last call will Thursday morning. Bars in Washington will be permitted to stay open and serve alcohol until 4 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

Craig reports that when bar hours were extended the night before Columbus Day earlier this year, no major incidents or problems arose from the move.

The push is all part of Mayor Vincent Gray's vision of improving the District's nightlife scene, which includes a move to extend bar hours the night before federal holidays.
