A serious crash south of Leesburg has left one person dead and four others in critical condition after a converted food truck collided with a car Friday evening.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says, "At 4:50 p.m., the driver of a decommissioned bus converted into a food truck was traveling east on Watson Road when they struck a passenger vehicle traveling northbound on Evergreen Mills Road."

Eight people were involved in the crash and five people were trapped in a car, ABC7's Anna-Lysa Gayle reports.

The person who was killed was an adult found in the car, which contained three juveniles and two adults.

Three people in the food truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

"This has been a very difficult extrication, we had to bring in a heavy wrecking unit to remove the bus from on top of the vehicle and once we did that we gained access to the patients," said Assistant Chief with Loudoun County Fire & Rescue Keith Johnson.

Evergreen Mills Rd is shut down between Black Branch Pkwy and Red Cedar, according to Alert Loudoun.

Watson Rd is closed off at Waxwing Dr.

The road closure is expected to last several hours. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area.
