Councilmember Laurie DiRocco to be sworn in as new mayor of Vienna

VIENNA, Va. (WJLA) - The Town of Vienna in Virginia has a new mayor.

The Town Council announced Monday that Councilmember Laurie DiRocco has been appointed to serve as mayor to fill out the remainder of previous Mayor Jane Seeman's term, which ends June 30.

Seeman passed away in late February after a year-long battle with lung cancer.

For the past month since Seeman's passing, Vice Mayor Carey Sienicki has served in the Mayor’s capacity.

DiRocco will be officially sworn in as Mayor on Tuesday.

According to a statement by the Town, DiRocco has been a resident of Vienna since 1995. She was first elected to Town Council in 2009, and was re-elected in both 2011 and 2013.
