HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP/WJLA) - The father of a Hagerstown man found dead in a western Maryland creek says he believes his son slipped on a rock and drowned.
Corey Adam Clopein, 25, of Hagerstown was found in a shin-deep section of Conococheague Creek on Thursday. He had been fishing for bass.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that Clopein's father, James Clopein, says his son died doing what he loved.
The Washington County sheriff's office, which is investigating, does not suspect foul play.
A concerned family member who had not heard from Clopein in a while found him. Deputies were told Clopein had left to go fishing, and he had what was believed to be fishing equipment with him.
An autopsy is being done to establish the cause of death.
