Copperhead found in Gaithersburg
Residents in Gaithersburg this week had a slithery visitor to their neighborhood.
A venomous snake was discovered in the 100 block of Swanton Lane in Orchard Park. Gaithersburg Animal Control caught the copperhead at about 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The copperhead is one of two venomous snakes indigenous to Maryland. The other is the Timber rattlesnake.
Gaithersburg Animal Control says that copperheads are most active during warmer summer months at dusk and in evening hours.
