Police are looking for suspects in a sophisticated burglary in which a computer was stolen and mined for financial information, Falls Church police said.
On Monday between 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., a home in the 1300 block of Robinson Place was broken into through an unlocked sliding glass rear door, police said.
The residents were home but did not see anything because they were asleep.
A laptop computer was taken and immediately exploited for banking information which was used to attempt to buy expensive goods at a large department store in the metropolitan area.
The burglary is atypical because the suspects were sophisticated enough to duplicate bank cards without the original cards in possession, police said.
Police do not have anyone in custody.
