The community is calling for speed bumps and or speed traps along Livingston Road, SE, following Xavier Luckey’s death.

The six-year-old died while crossing the street on his birthday Wednesday night after celebrating with family and friends.

Xavier was a kindergartner at Hendley Elementary School.

“He was coming across the street to come see me and his mom….he didn’t quite make it across,” said Xavier’s aunt Chernelle Luckey.

Chernelle Luckey described Xavier as a loving, smart little boy with lots of dreams.

“He’s that child that you dream of, he’s perfect,” said Chernelle Luckey.

She joined the community in prayer in the middle of Livingston Road on Thursday night.

Xavier’s great aunt Lachone Simms prayed for changes on the street.

“There should be speed bumps, there should be cameras. There should be something,” said Simms. “Save somebody’s child, cause ours wasn’t able to be saved.”

So far no charges have been filed against the driver involved in the accident.

We’re told that person stayed at the scene and was questioned by police.
