One Columbia resident’s holiday cheer has been spoiled after thieves made off with a package left on his doorstep.
“I feel a little violated,” said resident Dan Dorn, who had his holidays spoiled by a real-life Grinch driving a green Subaru station wagon.
Dorn says that on Nov. 28, UPS left a large box on his front porch—a snowing Christmas tree.
“It snowed out of the top, collected in the bottom and kept snowing as long as you had it on," Dorn said.
The gift for his children never made it inside.
His surveillance camera was rolling that afternoon when the suspect's wagon backed in, right into his driveway.
The man casually stepped out, rearranged the back seat to make more room, then returned seconds later with the box, which was delivered only 12 minutes earlier.
The man came and went in only 60 seconds—more than enough time for his identity to become clear.
"As he's passing around the back of his car he looks right up at the camera," Dorn said.
Dorn shared the remarkable images with Howard County Police who are now investigating.
