An Anne Arundel County cab driver helped authorities track down a convenience store armed robbery suspect on Friday night after he provided transportation and was allegedly robbed by the same man.
Authorities say that just before 8 p.m. Friday, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Christopher Michael Fay of Severn, hailed a cab off Donaldson Road in Severn, then robbed him at gunpoint. Fay then allegedly demanded that the driver drive him to various locations.
One of those stops was a Dash In food store at 7845 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie. After Fay and the driver walked in, the suspect allegedly robbed the store as well. The cashier refused to open the register, though, and after demanding a pack of cigarettes, both men got back into the cab and drove away.
A short time later, the driver, after the suspect left his cab, approached Anne Arundel County Police officers near Ritchie Highway and 11th Avenue to advise them of the robbery, telling officers that the suspect had forced him to go inside the store that he had tried to rob to ensure his transportation. After a short search, Fay was located at a nearby fast food restaurant.
Fay faces charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and carjacking.
