A single woman with no children of her own made it her life's mission to help families with critically ill children.
Now, 13 years later, Casey Baynes and her organization Casey Cares is doling out doses of laughter to lift the spirits of hundreds of sick children every day.
The children, who focus so much on being sick and fighting monstrous diseases, get a chance to forget about all of that at Casey Cares.
Baynes founded her Baltimore-based organization to pick up where groups that grant kids one wish leave off.
"They're so excited to act like a normal child, even if it's just for a few hours, they forget about the hospital pricks, they forget about the chemo that's ahead of them today and that's what Casey Cares is all about," Baynes says. "It's making every day count for these families who are battling for their lives."
