Capt. Michael Quin's remains arrive home in Purcellville

The remains of a local marine who lost his life last month arrived in his hometown of Purcellville, Va., Monday night.

Captain Michael Quin, 28, was one of seven Marines killed when two helicopters collided in Yuma, Ariz., during a training mission on Feb. 23.

Quin's remains were driven in a procession from Reagan National Airport to Purcellville Monday night.

"It hurts. We got the word he came from Purcellville, and that stings more ... when it's a small town and someone passes away that seemingly the whole town knew," said Brian McDonald, one of Quin's fellow Marines.

Quin was a 2002 graduate of Loudoun Valley High School. His former classmates were among the thousands lining the streets of Purcellville in tribute.

There will be a public visitation for Capt. Quin next Tuesday. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday.
