EDGEWATER, Md. (WJLA) -- A picture of an Anne Arundel County school bus driver who appears to be talking on the phone while driving has gone viral. Eighth-grader Sierra Camp snapped it with her cell phone Wednesday afternoon.
"We knew it was wrong, we knew it was illegal, and when he was talking on the phone, he went the wrong way," she explained. "This year I had my phone, so I decided, 'Why don't I get this?"
The driver buses kids to and from Central Middle School in Edgewater, and parents say this isn't the first time their kids have complained about him.
"I told the kids that any accusations are not going anywhere unless you have proof," said parent Jennie Anderson. "That's what they did - they got proof and I took it to the board."
A spokesman for Anne Arundel County Public Schools told ABC7:
"We were made aware of this today. We immediately contacted the contractor and pulled the bus driver. He will not be driving while we investigate what happened."
But parents say it should never have happened in the first place.
"I was disappointed, very disappointed in him; it's his job to take care of our kids and follow the law... It took the proof finally to get something done," said another parent, Jessica Hurley.
